One Source Deploys Funktion-One Vero System for Tipper & Friends at The GorgePhiladelphia-based One Source Productions provided the sound for the Tipper & Friends gathering at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State over Independence Day weekend. The event brought together thousands of fans for a multi-day celebration of music at one of the US' most iconic outdoor venues. Known for its dramatic elevation, sweeping vistas, and unpredictable winds, The Gorge challenges even the most experienced production teams. To meet those demands, One Source deployed a system comprising 24 Funktion-One Vero enclosures, 34 Funktion-One subs, and the rental company's full Evo 7 inventory. Preparations began in Funktion-One's Projection software, which enabled the team to model the audience area and refine the system design before arriving onsite. Correct placement was critical: the Vero arrays were flown 24m apart to achieve wide horizontal coverage and a strong stereo image and configured to deliver consistent, high-fidelity sound from the front of the bowl to the back. The main system was supplemented by ground-stacked Evo 7 in-fills and flown out-fills. Low frequencies -- a vital part of Tipper's sound -- were delivered through a combination of F124 and F221 subs. "The F124s provide incredible low-end extension, while the F221s add speed and punch," says One Source's Joe Adkins. Tipper's team commended the system's responsiveness, while front-of-house engineers noted its ability to maintain clarity and headroom even at peak levels. Audience members frequently remarked on the immersive quality of the sound, the company says, regardless of their position within the vast venue. A defining moment came during Tipper's final sunrise set: an hour of ambient music performed as the sun rose over the stage. "Every detail translated with remarkable clarity," says Adkins.
