Colour Sound Invests in AquaBeams

West London, UK-based Colour Sound Experiment has invested in 100 new LightSky AquaBeam waterproof beam moving lights in readiness for the 2017 festival season which will see the lighting and video rental specialist supply over 60 different events with equipment, design services, and crew.

Managing director Haydn Cruickshank (H) says they have been looking for a couple of years for a product that is water resistant and bright enough.

The IP44 rated LightSky AquaBeam is designed especially for outdoor live events and productions, and has been rigorously tested in the most exacting conditions, including enduring months of continuous extreme weather like driving rain, baking sun, dust, and windblown debris.

"They will be ideal for stage and PA wings positions or for lighting in outdoor scenarios where the kit has no protection at all" says Cruickshank, adding that the fixtures are already booked out of the warehouse on their various projects until October.

Colour Sound's festival season kicked off last weekend with We Are FSTVL and continues every week throughout the summer until Lollapalooza in Berlin, and will include high-profile events like Glastonbury and V Fest and boutique events like Wildlife and the last ever Secret Garden Party (SGP).

These are the first LightSky products that Colour Sound has purchased, but Cruickshank is sure they won't be the last. He has visited the LightSky factory in Shenzhen, China, and been suitably impressed with the set up and also several of their other products.

He thinks that they are lightweight and dynamic enough to be used indoors as well, and on top of all that are "very keenly priced." IP rated fixtures are a must for a company like Colour Sound which undertakes such a massive amount of outdoor work ... in the very unpredictable UK summer weather.

As well as being tough in the elements, the fixtures deliver excellent beams and effects.

The lightsource is a 440W HRI with an average lifespan of 1,200 hours. There's a fixed color wheel with six dichroics plus open and an adjustable color temperature between 3,200K and 7,000K as well as linear CMY color mixing.

The beam angle for projection is 2-degrees and for wash effects it is 45-degrees. There is a fixed gobo with with 12 positions and a blank for custom gobos.

It's has been designed and constructed for easy and straightforward maintenance.

In addition to these new units Colour Sound has invested in 50sqm of 2.5mm Unilumin Upad III HD LED screen ... which joins their vast stock of proprietary BT LED screen surface offering pitches of 6mm, 7mm, 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm.

Other new purchases in the last six months include PTZ camera systems which have been out on Placebo, Snarky Puppy, and The Kooks to name just a few.
