Alcons Audio's Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience Goes to ISE 2024

Visit Alcons Audio at ISE 2024, Booth #7F440.

Alcons Audio exhibits at ISE 2024 with new products and the latest iteration of its Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience, showcasing how its pro-ribbon systems deliver an identical high end experience across the pro-AV and residential/custom installation markets.

Exhibiting at Booth #7F440, hot on the heels of the US introduction at the NAMM show the week before, ISE sees the European presentation of two new series, aimed at the critical monitoring application for both live stages and studio markets.

Also a new CRMS system for the residential market is introduced, specifically designed for LED wall applications.

Partners in this year's Experience are Trinnov, Sony, and Dreamscreen.

The new CRMS system has been developed with solid screens -- such as LED panels -- in mind. A pre-angled single box solution, that can be mounted above and beside the screen, either in-wall or on-wall.

Sneak-previewed at the CEDIA expo in September last year, it can now be experienced as the left, center, and right channels in the Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience.

The QB363 is an arrayable bass system, that can be stacked or flown in multiples, making it an ideal building block to form bass arrays for obtaining low-frequency projection and throw control. The tightly-spaced, next-gen 12" woofers bring highest output under lowest distortion possible.

The QB363 (and smaller brother QB242) are the main ingredient of the Double Bass Array.

The CRMSC-SRHV reference pro-ribbon surround features Alcons' patented vertical waveguide technology; mounted on the RBN202 pro-ribbon driver, this caters for an undistorted and crystal-clear, extra-wide imaging surround experience.

The Sentinel amplified loudspeaker controllers are the drive engines behind the Alcons pro-ribbon sound systems. The proprietary amplified-processors offer 4-in/4-out, 192kHz AES3 digital inputs, full-color touch-screen and encoder control and true audiophile-grade amp.stages.

The WR20 is a 2-way loudspeaker to be used as high performance stage monitor sound system. Loaded with the RBN702rs pro-ribbon and dual 10" Active Coil woofers, the passive-filtered system combines the highest sound quality with very high SPL capabilities in a compact and flexible form factor. It brings Alcons' sonic signature sound to live-sound monitoring applications, the company says.

The M-series is the group of reference monitor systems, to be used for critical sound reproduction in any application where ultimate analytical sound reproduction is required, combined with an exceptionally wide dynamic range.

The M-series raises the benchmark for reference monitoring in terms of dynamic capabilities, depth-of-field, imaging and audio resolution, the company says.

Alcons is hosting hourly demonstrations throughout the show days. The hybrid 9.X.6 immersive surround system comprises 27 Alcons CRMS series pro-ribbon loudspeakers, driven by 28 channels of Sentinel amplified loudspeaker controllers with "lossless" AES3 digital signal distribution and VHIR™ phase processing.

The Trinnov DBA double bass array features a 12×12 configuration of Alcons QB242 and QB363 arrayable 12" bass columns, driven by Trinnov's new WaveForming processing. These are complemented by sealed Alcons CRMS-LFE18 reference subwoofers, for both impact and low-frequency extension. Walter Fortmüller of Zenzaru Design and Optimization has further fine-tuned this configuration which received already much acclaim and positive response at CEDIA 2023.

Visuals for the Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience will see a Sony VPL-GTZ380, 10,000 lumens 4k laser projector, with fully bespoke video processing, complemented by the new DreamScreen UltraWeave Studio X1 screen. The screen combines improved video performance with exceptional low loss acoustic properties, the company says.

Alcons pro-ribbon sound systems are in use at Bleat post-production London, Levels Audio Hollywood, Hamilton the Musical, Walt Disney, NBC Universal, Lucasfilm, Google/YouTube, EIKON studios, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, STMPD recording studios Amsterdam, but also at CMA Fest Nashville, Kenny Chesney US tour (Robert Scovill FOH) en Brandi Carlile US tour (Sean Quackenbush FOH) a.o. and a fast-growing number of reference home theatres and studios around the world.
