Artec Consultants Inc. Makes New Appointments

Todd Brooks joins Tateo Nakajima and Ed Arenius as partner and lead auditorium designer at Artec. Brooks has been a driving force of innovation in the acoustics design on Artec projects and has, as project manager, been responsible for the successful delivery of major projects that are key milestones in Artec's recent history, including the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida; McGill University Faculty of Music Building in Montréal, Canada; and Salle Pleyel in Paris, France. Since joining Artec in 2002, Brooks has led acoustics research efforts and objective measurement studies in over a dozen Artec projects.

Christopher Darland has been named associate partner. Darland was named principal consultant in 2008; he joined the company in 1997. Darland has served as project manager of the multi-disciplinary Artec team for a number of landmark theatres and concert halls, including the National Philharmonic Concert Hall in Budapest, Hungary; Jazz at Lincoln Center; Rose Hall at Columbus Circle in New York City; Harpa: Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Center in Reykjavik, Iceland; and the concert hall and theatres at the Carmel Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana.

Clemeth Abercrombie has been named senior consultant. Since joining Artec in 2009, Abercrombie has made a significant impact in the design process, the management of complex projects, and in research expanding Artec's knowledge in acoustics. He has been project manager of La Maison Symphonique, the new concert hall in Montréal, Canada; and the King Abdullah II House for Culture and Arts in Amman, Jordan currently under design with Zaha Hadid Architects. Abercrombie has also been part of work on the West Kowloon Cultural District Development Plan in Hong Kong, and the Elstein Music and Arts Center in Zichron Yaakov, Israel.
